About the Book:

When Shiloh Anderson’s ex left her stranded in a bar, with no clothes, no car, and no money, the last thing she expected was to have a one-night stand with the sexiest man she’d ever seen. But the soldier left more than just a lasting impression with her, he left her pregnant.

Sergeant Drake Edwards is a lot of things, but he’s never been an asshole. Until the nameless woman from his one-night stand sends him an email claiming to be pregnant with his baby. Demanding a paternity test seemed reasonable enough to him, but he didn’t count on how damn stubborn she could be.

When Drake is injured and is forced to return home, he’s brought face to face with Shiloh once more, and her beauty nearly takes him to his knees. Facing death changes a man, and Drake is determined to do whatever it takes to claim his baby—and the woman he can’t stop thinking about.

Excerpt:

Shiloh pushed open the door to the first bedroom. She flicked on the switch, winced at the bright light, and immediately shut it off. Stripping out of her boots and clothes, she face planted on the bed, bare-assed as the day she was born. After a bit of wiggling, she managed to pull the covers over her and curled up in the center of the queen-size bed. It had been a long time since she’d had a bed to herself. Maybe if she weren’t completely plastered, she’d have enjoyed it a bit more. Of course, now that jerkwad was out of her life, she was going to have tons of time to sleep by herself.

The alcohol-induced haze made her feel like she was floating, drifting on a cloud. Her stomach no longer felt queasy. Shiloh closed her eyes and dozed. A while later, she thought she heard a noise in the room, but dismissed it as her imagination. Dallas had said she’d probably have the place to herself. And she’d remembered to lock the door. She sighed and rolled over. When the bed dipped, she bolted upright, clutching the blankets to her chest.

“Hello?” She tried to see in the inky darkness, but could only make out the shape of a man. Oh hell, had she picked the wrong bed?

There was a click and a lamp turned on. She squinted until her eyes adjusted. The man sitting beside her was even larger than his brother, and she hadn’t thought that was physically possible. Dark hair was buzzed short, and his profile showed a strong jaw and long, straight nose. There was an Army tattoo on one bicep. His broad back was toned, and his arms looked large enough to break someone in half. Or cuddle them really close. She gave herself a mental slap. When his blue eyes focused on her, her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth. No one had ever looked at her like that before.

“Looks like my brother got me a going-away present after all.” Appreciation lit his eyes as he scanned her.

She shook her head.

“No? Well, sweetheart, I can’t think of any other reason for a naked woman to be in my bed.”

“I picked the wrong room,” she mumbled.

He gave her a sardonic smile. “I know for a fact Rebecca wouldn’t approve of Dallas sharing his room with any naked women except her. So, if you were looking to trap him in some way, you picked the wrong mark.”

“No, I … he’s helping me.”

The man turned and braced his hands on either side of her hips, leaning in close, his lips nearly brushing hers. “What I think is that your plan isn’t going the way you’d thought it would so you’re making up stories. But I’m a pretty nice guy. I’ll give you thirty seconds to get that sweet ass of yours out of my bed, dressed, and the fuck out of this apartment.”

She licked her lips and didn’t move.

“Or, if you’re still here in thirty seconds, I’m going to take it as an invitation and see if those lips taste as sweet as they look.”

Her eyes widened. He wouldn’t really kiss her, would he? She trembled a little at the thought of the powerful man caging her in putting his lips on hers. The thought of his hands on her body… Heat flushed her cheeks and spread down into her chest. She wasn’t seriously considering sitting here just to see if he’d really do it, was she?

“Time’s up.”

Her lips parted, but before she could utter a word of protest, his mouth pressed against hers, his tongue invading and tasting. Oh Lord! Shiloh had never been kissed so thoroughly before. His expertise was enough to make her weak-kneed and ready to beg for more. Her body burned and she dropped the blankets to reach for him. As he pushed her back against the bed, she became acutely aware of the fact he was just as naked as her.

Was she really about to have sex with a complete stranger? She didn’t even know his name!

He trailed hot kisses down her neck, giving her ear a nip. A shiver skated down her spine as her nipples puckered. Oh, hell yeah! He can do whatever he wants to me.

A cat lover, she has more than one furbaby running around, keeping her company in the wee hours of the morning as she tries to find just the right way to say “His skin gleamed, the early morning rays caressing his sun bronzed flesh, as he studied her from beneath the brim of his Stetson.” Or, you know, something similar.

When Paige isn’t doling out tons of affection on the furbabies, or slurping down a pot of coffee (Yes! A whole pot!) so she can get in her daily word count, she enjoys reading and watching movies—romances, usually.

Cast back into the nightmare of rejection, a devastated Victoria undertakes the momentous task of putting her life back together, her trust broken, her worst fears realized.
Meanwhile, Logan is working equally hard to deal with the secretive events that led to that cruel rejection, and then he plans to make it up to his tattered bride. If she will forgive him.

Excerpt:
The world narrowed to him and her, and a little slice of churning emotions she couldn’t decipher. “You’re calling off the wedding. Our wedding. Now.” Just in case she hadn’t heard him correctly. This had the makings of a horrible, sick joke…
Shoving a hand through his hair, he obviously struggled to meet her stare. His tawny eyes were turbulent. “I am. I … just decided. It’s—”
“What?” Victoria tumbled to it, falling into the abyss of her history. Deep down, she knew why. Too bad he’d only just decided. Now. At this inopportune time. All her issues and stupid insecurities washed over her from wherever they’d been banished to, banished by Logan’s resolute pursuit and sincere belief in her. He’d addressed her fears, made her whole—and now? Now her tender underbelly was exposed—without a shred of armor—for the deathblow. The sublime lovemaking of a mere few hours earlier faded in the face of it.
“I—” Real pain and misery now seemed to burn in his eyes, and despite her terrified anticipation, she wanted to soothe him. Through set lips, he continued, “I don’t have the words to tell you why Victoria. I’m sorry. But the wedding is off.”
Still, she waited, believing he would somehow embellish, give her an explanation that wouldn’t make this about her, but he stood there mutely, now staring someplace over her shoulder. She checked out the direction of that gaze—maybe there was an answer there, but she saw only a watercolor of a pastoral scene. Please.
She let her pride crumble and begged. “Logan. This doesn’t make any sense. We… Only this morning…”
He shook his head and straightened to his full height. “It’s off.”
Deep inside there was an utter certainty that it did indeed make sense. He’d figured her out. Seen to the core of her the way others had. In despair, she gave up the fight to believe in him and their love in response to his firm declaration. The Victoria of her childhood emerged, in blind response, lashing out to hide from the truth.
“Was it the thrill of the chase? And then when you caught me, you became afraid you were settling? That there’s something better around the corner?”
She didn’t want to wait for a response. She had to leave. Now. What would get her past the sideways looks and the knowing stares? The church was full of family and friends—and others who had probably predicted this very moment…
“Victoria. You need to calm down. It’s not like that.”
“Calm. Down?” She was aware her voice was climbing as she talked over him, and the small room, the one where she and Logan would have been closeted to sign the papers finalizing their marriage, wasn’t soundproof. She modulated her tone the very best she could, humiliation and pain squeezing her very being. “What is it like, then, exactly?”
“I can’t say.”
“Tell me.”
He looked away. “I can’t.”
Dropping her beautiful bouquet of red roses, entwined with baby’s breath and white, embossed ribbon on the desk, the air currents disturbed the uncompleted marriage papers. They fluttered, mocking her. She stared up at the face of the man she loved. And faced the realization that she indeed still loved him. That part, at least, hadn’t changed despite the mortification of being dumped at the freaking altar. Love. She thought it was love. Too bad it wasn’t real.
“And I’m supposed to take that and be calm!”
“Yes, calm down.” His face was set in grim determination, his eyes hot. “We’ll … we’ll get through this.”
She narrowed her eyes and leaned into him. What couldn’t she be one of those classy women who took this kind of thing in stride and walked away without making a scene? Maybe she could be. Drawing on a reserve of strength she wasn’t aware she possessed, she said, “I’m calm. Dead calm. So shut up now. I never want to hear your voice again, let alone set eyes on you.”
Squaring her shoulders, she closed off his next attempt to speak. She avoided his outstretched hand and ignored the sudden abject despair written across his handsome features. Was he embarrassed? If he didn’t want a scene, why in hell had he chosen this public place to dump her? Flinging the door openam to the main part of the church, she surveyed the people filling the pews. Those congregated there stilled into silence, with only an occasional murmur marring the quiet. Dozens of pairs of eyes looked in their direction. Victoria stepped forward. Classy. She could do this.

Rescuing Zoey by Jessica Coulter Smith

Book Summary

Zoey has had erotic dreams about her boss, Sebastian Montcrief, for the longest time, but doubts he would ever look at her as more than an employee. When his cousin Andrew Montcrief joins Bellmont Enterprises, Zoey and Andrew team up to win her the attention of the elusive Sebastian.

Excerpt

Unable to tear my eyes away, the sight of Sebastian’s large hands splayed across my breasts mesmerizes me. His chest pressed against the naked skin of my back, his fully aroused cock throbbed against me, begging for entry. My eyes sought his in the mirror and he gave me a thoroughly wicked grin, making my breath hitch in my throat. His hand slipped between my legs, spreading them apart. I watched in fascination as he guided his cock into my wet pussy, groaning as I felt him stretch and fill me.

My eyes began to slip closed and a flush spread across my body as desire flared hot in my veins. His breath tickled my ear, sending shivers across my skin as he whispered, “Open your eyes. I want you to watch as I fuck you.”

I gasped, his coarse words turning me on even more. I forced my eyes open and I looked as he gently pinched and twirled my nipples and his cock slid in and out of my body, making me hotter and wetter.

Suddenly, a beeping sound pulled at me and made me frown. As Sebastian and my dream slipped away, I opened my eyes to reality. My alarm clock beeped madly from the nightstand. With a groan, I threw off the covers and sat up, smacking my hand down on the annoying device that interrupted my most erotic fantasy yet. I just wished my dreams, erotic or otherwise, would involve someone other than my very unattainable boss, Sebastian Montcrief. It was beginning to make things difficult at work, for me anyway. As far as I could tell, Sebastian didn’t see me as anything other than an employee.

I still felt the coil of desire low in my belly and looked at my clock in disgust. Just a few more minutes and I would have had a cataclysmic orgasm. Life could be so cruel.

Padding into the bathroom, I turned on the shower and let the water warm while I brushed my teeth. I put my toothbrush aside and stripped out of my nightgown before stepping under the hot spray, sighing in ecstasy. As I soaped my skin, my fingers brushed over my sensitive nipples, still hard from my naughty dream. My hands slid lower and slipped between my legs, finding my swollen clit. Rubbing in tormenting circles, I leaned against the shower wall and panted for breath. I was so far gone that a moment later, my hips bucked against my hand as my orgasm came crashing through me. If I’d had more time, I would have done it again, just to make sure I had exorcised the demons thoroughly before seeing Sebastian. Instead, I finished washing and got out, knowing I’d be late otherwise.

I quickly dried off and dropped the towel in the hamper. Naked, I walked back into my bedroom and flung open the closet. Yanking out a black pencil skirt with a slit up the side and a white blouse, I turned to rummage through my underwear drawer. After selecting a lacy white thong and matching bra, I got dressed quickly, barely having time left for hair and make-up.

Within minutes, I dashed out the door, praying I wasn’t late for work. I could just see it now… Sorry I’m late, Mr. Montcrief. I was having this fantastic erotic dream about you and time just got away from me. I snorted. Yeah, that would go over well.

Whittaker longs to be with Salena, but he knows his maker is still out there. Doubting he can keep her safe from the bloodthirsty creature who turned him, he tries to hold her at bay. Whittaker smiled. “My name is Whittaker St. James. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Salena.”

Whittaker. Somehow, the name seemed to suit him. She glanced down at the black tee she wore and looked at him questioningly.

“Your dress was soaked through. I’ve washed and dried it if you’d like to change.”

“Yes, thank you.” She looked at the floor. It was obvious the two of them were alone in the cabin, yet she couldn’t help but ask the question weighing heavy on her mind. “Did you change my clothes?”

He cleared his throat and looked somewhat embarrassed. “Yes. It was either that or take a chance on you coming down with pneumonia.”

She nodded and her face flushed. It was one thing to be naked with someone you’d been dating, but another for a complete stranger to see you undressed. Even if you did find him irresistible.

It was one thing to want to be naked with him, and another for him to see you naked while you were out cold. It should have been at least a little bit creepy, but for some reason it wasn’t. There was something about Whittaker, something that seemed familiar. Perhaps they were destined to meet.

He stepped closer. Brushing her hair back behind her ear, he smiled down at her. “I would say that I was a perfect gentleman and didn’t look, but I’m afraid it was impossible not to. Your beauty drew me like a moth to a flame, even if I only caught a glimpse.”

She felt her face burn, yet his words made her hormones surge out of control again. He’d called her beautiful, something not many had done in her life. She was only twenty, but Salena had hoped to experience some sort of grand passion by now. Instead, she had found one mediocre boyfriend after another, until the last one — the homicidal one who’d tried to kill her. I can certainly pick ‘em, she thought.

Whittaker stepped back. “I’ll just, uh, get your dress for you.”

Before Salena could embarrass herself further, her savior left, leaving her alone in the bedroom once more. A bedroom that now had his scent lingering in the air, a scent she recognized. She knew without a doubt that this was his bedroom, and she’d been sleeping on his pillow.

The butterflies in her stomach rioted once more as her thoughts strayed to the bed and the man she desperately wanted. If he had touched her intimately, she knew she would have gone willingly into his arms, probably would have begged him to take her. It was embarrassing to think she was so easy.

While she waited for him to return, she looked out the window at the spectacular view of the mountains. She’d never seen anything so peaceful in her life. Even though bad circumstances had brought her here, she was glad she had met Whittaker.

Guest Author, Julie Kimbrell and “Mr. Irresistible”

Mr. Irresistible came to me after I actually heard someone’s name called over the intercom at Wal-Mart one morning and thought that would be a great way to start a book. To me, the funny thing about the beginning of Mr. Irresistible is that I know everyone that reads it can identify with Kate.

We’ve all stood at that customer service desk at some point, whether it be to return an item or get change for a dollar for your kids to use in the arcade. (I do that a lot). I always seem to get that one clerk/worker that’s mad at the world and hasn’t brushed their teeth or washed their hair in months. They look at you like you’re crazy and make you feel about an inch tall.

Mr. Irresistible was really fun to write. It began to flow once I had the first chapter written. My hero, Gage Morgan, had to be very manly in order to compliment the femininity of Kate Simon. The Harley worked perfectly as well as being the bartender and manager. He had the power and brains. The fact they work together made the conflict stronger and Kate more frustrated.

Of course, I love happy endings so Kate and Gage eventually worke through all their reservations but not before the crash bang ending that will, for sure, surprise the reader. What will happen? Will Gage’s friend find a way to take Kate away? Will Gage lose the bar?

Blurb for Mr. Irresistible:

This story is about Kate Simon, a sensible, independent young woman, who’s thrown for a loop when Gage Morgan steps into her life.  She’s not ready for the feelings that result every time they’re together, which is often since she’s helping him run his friend’s new bar.  For some reason, he’s irresistible. Gage is so motivated to make the business successful for his friend, he struggles with his feelings for Kate as well. Does he have time for a relationship? Could it be love?  And what will happen when Gage’s selfish friend, Charlie decides he wants Kate for himself. Can Gage keep his so-called friend from ruining everything?

An unproofed Excerpt:

As Kate Simon pushed her shopping cart down the frozen foods aisle of Duffy’s Grocery, the intercom made an annoyingly loud beep.

“Kate Simon, please come to the front of the store. Kate Simon, please come to the front of the store,” a woman’s voice blared overhead.

At first, she felt startled to hear her name blasted throughout the store but immediately she knew what was going on. Slowly, Kate turned the big silver cart around and made her way to the Customer Service Desk at the front of the store. A tall plump woman with greasy hair stood behind the register, with a bored look plastered to her face. When she opened her mouth to speak, Kate noticed there were about three teeth in the woman’s mouth, and cringed at the sight.

“Can I help you?” she asked.

Kate had a teeth fetish and considered them very important. She believed teeth were the first thing a person noticed about a person and first impressions were everything. Being a dental hygienist, Kate was very judgmental when it came to a person’s mouth. There was no excuse for bad teeth.  Just brush and floss. That’s it.

“I’m Kate Simon,” she told the clerk.

The woman, whose name tag read Ruby, gave Kate a blank stare.

“You have a phone call.” She handed the phone to Kate then crossed her arms and waited.

Kate’s eight month pregnant sister, Karly happened to be the only one who knew she had gone to the grocery store.  Fear dashed through Kate for a second and she wondered if Karly had gone into labor?

“Hello,” she answered cautiously.

“Kate, I’m so sorry to bother you….”

Kate cut her off.  “Are you okay? Are you going into labor?”

“No, I’m fine. Could you bring me some Rolaids. I’m dying here.”

With an eye roll, she turned her back on Ruby to get a little bit of privacy. “Why didn’t you just call my cell phone?” Kate whispered and relaxed.

“I did,” Karly said, “but you left it here, at my house. I heard it vibrating on top of my dresser.”

Kate fumbled around to check her purse for the phone. It wasn’t there. Then she remembered laying it down while she made the list of things Karly needed her to get at the store.  Karly’s husband, David had gone out of town for a convention and left Karly home alone. He should feel lucky being the dentist, and my boss, or I would’ve unleashed the wrath of Kate on him. What kind of man, with a medical degree, decides to leave his very pregnant wife alone for three days?
